Empowering Young Women in Agribusiness: My Journey and Vision
My name is Rutendo Manema, and I am from Zimbabwe. Growing up, I watched my grandmother work tirelessly on her small farm, turning the soil with determination. Her hard work fed our family and instilled in me a deep appreciation for agriculture. This passion led me to pursue a degree in Agricultural Economics and Development at MSU, with dreams of transforming small-scale farming into a profitable agribusiness.
Unfortunately, financial constraints made it impossible for me to finish my studies. Despite working as a vendor to fund my education and doing my attachment on a farm, the low wages were not enough to sustain my tuition. I reached level 3 (attachment), but due to financial struggles and personal fears, I was unable to complete it. This was a heartbreaking setback, but I refused to let it define my future.
Despite these challenges, my dream remains alive. I want to start a small agribusiness focusing on growing vegetables, maize, and potatoes. With the right resources—proper irrigation, quality inputs, and land preparation—I can turn this dream into a sustainable business. But more than that, I want to inspire and empower young women to see farming not just as survival, but as an opportunity for economic freedom.
To make this dream a reality, I need $900 to cover irrigation facilities, land preparation, and inputs. Every contribution, big or small, will help me take a step closer to building a successful agribusiness. This is not just an investment in my future but in the future of young women who aspire to break barriers in agriculture.
I invite you to be part of this journey. Your support will not only help me start my agribusiness but will also create a pathway for young women who dream of financial independence through agriculture. Together, we can build something meaningful—one seed, one harvest, and one empowered woman at a time.
Thank you for believing in my dream. With your help, I can turn challenges into opportunities and pave the way for a new generation of women .
